May 21, 2010 On Sunday, May 16, 2010, Arizona RunningEvents Co. and Arcosanti presented the Arcosanti 5K Run & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. There were 55 runners participating in the 5K and 12 walkers in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, including many Arcosanti residents. [photo & text: Anita Baker] Runners received t-shirts and were issued a magnetic chip to attach to a shoe to get accurate running times. When the runners crossed the mat at the start/finish line, the chips were activated. Refreshments, fruit, snacks, water and ice cream were available. The 5K is a beautiful scenic dirt road course around the Arcosanti site through the Agua Fria River valley. The course was a little over 5K and the running times are for 3.5 miles. The day was perfect for running: 70 degrees and a little breeze. [photo & text: Anita Baker] A winner! Susan Gordon from Sedona, Arizona was the first place winner for women with a running time of 26:28. Winners received ceramic wind-bells (the famous bells made at Arcosanti), medallions and gift certificates. [photo & text: Anita Baker] Another happy winner! Matteo Di Michele, another Arcosanti resident, was third place winner in his age group with a running time of 32:55. Arcosanti plans to host another 5k running event next year. Don’t miss it! German channel provider Your Family Entertainment has launched its kids and family entertainment channel Yourfamily in Bulgaria.The Bulgarian version of the channel can currently be accessed on the Vivacom IP video-on-demand platform, the Vodafone Live mobile platform, Telekom Austria-owned service provider Megalan’s IPTV network and the platforms of cable operators MSAT, Cores Group and TV-Net. Braykoff Media is acting as the local distributor and local studio Doli is providing content localisation services.
The QYou, a linear network focused on high-quality, curated web videos, has launched an authenticated app aimed at its operator partners.The youth-skewing network said that the app will allow service providers – including pay TV operators, OTT, SVoD and mobile operators – to deliver The QYou’s linear and VoD content through an interactive, multiscreen experience.The app is available to The QYou’s platform partners either as an authenticated standalone QYou-branded app or integrated into an operator’s existing mobile app.The QYou said that the release reflects the “growing demand” for a combination of lean-back, lean-forward, personalised and social TV experiences.The QYou co-founder and CEO, Scott Ehrlich, described the launch as “an exciting milestone” the company as it expands its support for subscription platforms of all kinds“Using the app, subscription platforms can offer the most compelling curation of commercially appealing short form videos from around the globe as an integrated VOD and linear experience,” he said.“Subscribers can skip forward and back during ‘live’ linear content, favourite content, and share through social media, as well as search using hashtags, artist and genre to find similar videos and build playlists.”The app uses a combination of analytics and curation from The QYou’s team to deliver more personalised in-app recommendations, according to the company.The QYou now operates its linear channel in more than 30 countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East through carriers including Deutsche Telekom, Telenor, M7 Group, Lattelecom, Star Times and My HD. The first partners for The QYou’s new app are yet to be revealed.
