first_imgA 23-year-old pregnant Nigerian woman was evacuated from the Alan Kurdi following an epileptic attack. The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) had to evacuate people for medical reasons from the Sea-Eye vessel Alan Kurdi on two occasions during the past eight days as the vessel is still waiting its fate in the middle of the Mediterranean. On Thursday, the AFM issued a press release explaining how they have successfully evacuated two persons from two different vessels, the Alan Kurdi and the MV Fedora for “urgent medical attention”.Sea-Eye, the German humanitarian organisation who operates the Alan Kurdi also stated that the captain of the vessel, Werner Czerwinski had contacted the Maltese rescue centre who immediately sent a life-boat to take the woman for medical assistance. In their press release, the humanitarian organisation also pointed out that the 62 migrants that are still on board the Alan Kurdi are questioning what is taking so long for a solution to be found. Captain Czerwinski said following eight days at sea, the conditions are not good either for the migrants or for his crew.Gordon Isler, chairman of Sea-Eye e.V. said that “we still do not have any robust results from the EU Commission”.There is still a diplomatic stalemate between Malta and Italy on what needs to be done with the Alan Kurdi that is still navigating in the waters outside the Maltese coast.WhatsApp SharePrint last_img
